The Cheshire Fair
August 4 - 8, 2010
Held every year in late July and early August, the Cheshire Fair draws residents and visitors from New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts for their six day run. Events include a demolition derby, concerts, a complete midway, many 4-H exhibits and more.

Clarence Demar Marathon
September 26, 2010
The marathon has been run since 1978 in the honor of Clarence Demar. Demar was a seven-time winner of the Boston Marathon who lived and worked in the Monadnock Region during the 1930s. The race begins in Gilsum and brings runners from all over.

Concerts on the Common
All summer long.
The Monadnock Region features concerts by many fine local bands every summer at different town commons and centers.
On the green in Walpole: Sundays from 7:00 to 8:30 pm - July 4, 11, 18, 25; August 1, 8, 15, 22 - Sponsored by Savings Bank of Walpole. Please see our calendar for details.

Foliage Tours
September/October
The Monadnock Region features spectacular foliage and many scenic drives to view it each fall. Because we have many low lying areas, the colors tend to come early and often stay late. The link below gives you some suggestions for foliage tours.

Gathering of the Sap
March & early April
Maple sugaring is big business here in the area. An area tour can include places like Stuarts and John's Pancake House, Parker's Maple House and more. See the related article for more information.

Hillsborough Balloon Festival
July 8 - 11, 2010
In addition to hot air balloon launches (6 AM and 6 PM each day), the Festival features Eastern Draft Horse Pulls, performing artists, a tractor pull, mud bog, 5K road race and an artist's fair.

Jaffrey Festival of Fireworks

An incredible display of fireworks held yearly at the Jaffrey Airport. This one is billed as the "largest display in the northeast."

Pumpkin Festival - 20th Anniversary!
October 16, 2010
This year marks the 20th Anniverary of the Keene Pumpkin Festival. Join tens of thousands of spectators as Keene tries to regain its Guinness Book Record for the largest number of lit jack-o-lanterns in one place. Depending on the weather, Keene has a community night on Friday, the night before the actual Festival.

Winchester Pickle Festival
Please check back for 2010 date!
This event is an old-fashioned town fair, with parades, pickle-themed floats, plenty of pickle costumes and marching bands. Along the route are craftsmen, food booths and a lively competition among local cooks for the best jar of pickles. Live music goes on all day, with everything from blues and country-western to a barbershop quartet and violin ensemble.
